
Meet the Team

Evan Watson
Owner and Forester, RPF #3150
Evan grew up on 40 acres surrounded by timberland in Shasta County, where he was exposed to forest management at a young age. After working in a variety of environmental related jobs, including as a commercial fisherman, ranch hand, outdoor trip instructor, and on a wildland fire crew, he eventually found his way back to his forestry roots and became a licensed forester in 2021. He has a BS in Environmental Studies from UC Santa Cruz, and a MA in Geography from George Washington University.
Evan is most happy when he is building burn piles on his own property in Montgomery Creek.

Cameron Musser
Forester, RPF #3197
Cameron is based in Chico and leads projects in Plumas and Butte Counties. She brings a strong foundation in GIS analysis to the SCLS team, and is also experienced with NEPA and federal forest management. She is has a BS from UC Berkeley and a MF from Yale School of Forestry. Prior to SCLS, she worked with Vibrant Planet, the Butte County Resource Conservation District, and Collins Pine Company.

John Hoveman
Defensible Space Program Coordinator
John works with the Shasta County Fire Safe Council to support implementation of their California Wildfire Mitigation Program in Whitmore. He is a skilled craftsman and carpenter and is based in Montgomery Creek. He, like Evan, is also a burn pile enthusiast.

Chuck Dethero
Forester, RPF #2478, TSP-22-24390
Chuck is the District Forester for the Western Shasta Resource Conservation District, but supports SCLS in a part time capacity. Chuck has 30 years of experience working as a forester throughout northern California, including for Roseburg Forest Products, Fruit Growers Supply Company, Roseburg Resources Company, and Sierra Pacific Industries. Chuck has a BS in Forestry from UC Berkeley.
Chuck specializes in Timber Harvest Plans, botany and wildlife surveys, inventory, NTMPs, California Cooperative Forest Management Plans, and the California Forest Improvement Program (CFIP). He is also a NRCS Technical Service Provider.

Camille Swezy
Forester, RPF #3258
Camille provides project and operations support to the SCLS team. When she's not working with SCLS, she consults on biomass and wood utilization issues via her company Mule Ears Consulting LLC.
